History
教會簡史
On January 1, 1978, led by God's guidance, sixteen brothers and sisters gathered in a home for the very first worship meeting, officially establishing the church under the name Chinese Community Church of South Bay. In 1986, the church formally adopted its Chinese name.
As the congregation grew, worship services moved to Torrance First Baptist Church in February 1978, with attendance reaching around 30 people. Weekly gatherings included Bible study, prayer meetings, and Sunday worship, along with an evangelical-sharing service on the last Sunday of each month. By then, the church had grown to about 130 members. In October 1989, the church received approval to build its own facility, and the new building was dedicated in February 1991.
In the summer of 1983, Rev. Herman Wang became the church’s first pastor. Later that year, Rev. Paul Shen joined the ministry and became our first senior pastor in September 1985. Over the years, several pastors have faithfully shepherded the church, including Rev. Sow-Pheng Liew, Rev. Samuel Chang, Rev. Clifford Chang, Rev. Samuel Ling, Rev. Szushing Mao. Since July 2023, Pastor Leon Wu has joined the Chinese congregation in ministry.
In 1996, the church began offering English worship services and held many joint bilingual services for special occasions. Past English ministry leaders have included Pastor Timothy Fung, Pastor Gregory Mark, Rev. Rick Hata, Pastor David Kim, Rev. Timothy Kim and Pastor Elliot Siu. In February 2015, Pastor Jay Cordova joined the church as the English pastor and also oversees the youth ministry.
Since November 1990, Sister Eva Mah has faithfully served as the church secretary.
Since 1984, the church has highlighted the importance of missions through Sunday messages and an annual Missions Month. Missionaries have been invited to share their experiences and inspire the congregation to care, give, and pray for global outreach. The church has also actively participated in short-term mission trips, with past destinations including Mexico, Native American reservations in Arizona, Africa, Israel, Mainland China, Thailand, and Myanmar.

Beliefs
信仰宣告
God
-
We believe in One God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; these three are the same in substance, equal in power and glory.
-
We believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.
-
We believe that Jesus Christ, God the Son, was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man.
-
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood.
-
We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His present life there for us as High Priest and Advocate for us.
-
We believe in the deity and personality of the Holy Spirit, who convicts the sinner, and regenerates, indwells, enlightens, and guides the believer.
The Bible
-
We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are verbally and plenarily inspired by God and inerrant in the original writing, and that they are of the supreme and final authority in faith and life.
Humankind
-
We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned, and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also that spiritual death, which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and in the case of those who reach moral responsibility, become sinners in thought, word, and deed.
-
We believe that God's creation intent in marriage is for a faithful, lifelong commitment between one man and one woman.
Future Events
-
We believe on "that blessed hope", the personal, premillennial and imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost.
